SEAS offers funding options for domestic and international master's degree students through scholarships and fellowships.
Qualifications for Prospective Students
Funding opportunities at the School of Engineering & Applied Science are merit-based and extremely competitive. Although there are no strict criteria to qualify for funding, master's applicants typically have strong prior academic performance. International students should aim for English language scores of at least 100 overall on TOEFL, 7.0 overall (with no individual band below 6.0) on IELTS, or 130 overall on the Duolingo English Test.
Scholarships, Fellowships, Assistantships
- SEAS offers a variety of merit-based scholarship awards for on-campus master's degree program students. These awards are tuition discounts that currently range from 25-75%. The awards are valid for the entire duration of the master's degree program as long as the award recipient is in good academic standing. These awards are only allocated to incoming master's degree program students during the admissions process. Continuing students who have already started their studies at SEAS are not eligible to apply for these awards.
- Grad2Grad Tuition Discount: 10% off tuition for GW undergraduates.
- CyberCorps Scholarship: Up to $34,000/year in tuition and living expenses (U.S. citizens only).
- The Mary Shepard Scholarship: 50% tuition award, for one year.
- Hyundai Scholarship: $20,000/year for Korean or U.S. citizens.

How to Apply
There is no separate application for students to apply for master’s level funding opportunities. For prospective students, please indicate your request for funding consideration through the online application form as you apply for your select graduate program.
For current students, funding opportunities may be available through your academic department and professors. Please inquire directly with your program office or faculty advisor.
