Graduate Programs

The GW School of Engineering & Applied Science offers master's, doctoral, and certificate programs in a variety of engineering and computer science disciplines.

All courses are held on GW's main campus in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, D.C. through classroom and lab instruction, with some featuring online components. Most courses are held in the evening, beginning as early as 4 p.m. and ending no later than 9 p.m.

M.S. or M.Eng. Master of Science Master of Engineering degrees

Master's Programs

Each of our master's program ranges 30-36 credit hours, with part-time and full-time course load options that take students on average 2-3 years for completion. From there, students can directly enter industry or continue building research experience through a doctoral program.

 

Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy Programs

Doctoral Programs

Doctoral students comprise the backbone of research conducted at SEAS. Through grant funding and mentorships from faculty, doctoral students can expect to take 4-6 years to complete the program.

 

Certificate Programs

Certificate Programs

Ideal for working professionals or those who simply want to acquire additional skills beyond their undergraduate education, each certificate is comprised of 4-6 courses offered in the evening. Upon successful completion of a certificate, credits may be transferred to a Master's program.
