Introducing the SEAS Graduate Professional Advisors

January 4, 2016

Starting January 2016, current graduate students at SEAS will be assigned to a graduate professional advisor who will assist them with navigating their degree requirements, completing paperwork for course registration and dissertation presentations, and applying for graduation.

For master's and certificate program students, students are assigned to a professional advisor based on the first letter of their last name: Matthew Wille (A-H), Heidi von Zielinski (I-R), Tyler McClenithan (S-Z). Reserve an appointment

For doctoral students, students are assigned to a professional advisor based on their academic department. The exception to this will be students in the Computer Science PhD program, who are assigned to an advisor based on the first letter of their last name: Matthew Wille (EMSE, CS students A-Z), Heidi von Zielinski (BME, ECE, CS students I-R), Tyler McClenithan (CEE, MAE, CS students S-Z).

In addition to their graduate professional advisors, all students will continue to meet with their faculty advisor for guidance on research, course interest, curriculum goals, etc. Graduate professional advisors do not replace faculty advisors; rather, they supplement the work faculty advisors already do by managing administrative and programmatic requirements in one centralized location.
