Since 2008, GW has hired 173 full-time tenured faculty members, 40 of whom have been at SEAS under the leadership of Dean David Dolling. Hiring at least 100 faculty members has been a strategic goal of the university, particularly in the science and technical fields. Major efforts have been led by Provost Steven Lerman, who himself will begin teaching at SEAS in Fall 2016 as the A. James Clark scholar of engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
