Continuing On-Campus Graduate Student Fall 2021 Exception Policy

Continuing Graduate Students

Continuing on-campus program graduate students who experience issues obtaining a visa prior to the start of the Fall semester, may request for an exception to be made to allow them to continue to take courses online for the fall semester. Graduate students will need to work with their professional advisor and faculty advisor to determine their plan of action including identifying which online courses will count towards their degree requirements. Graduate students requesting an exception will be required to submit a completed Continuing On-Campus Graduate Student Fall Exception form with their agreed-upon plan of action that will be signed by the student’s graduate professional advisor, faculty advisor and department chair. Graduate students who are granted an exception will be allowed to register for a maximum of 9 credit hours of online course work. If there are no applicable online course offerings for a student, they may submit paperwork to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) instead.

Combined 5-Year Program Students

Combined 5-Year program students may request to participate in the Flex-Start program for the Fall 2021 semester if the courses being offered online meet their degree requirements. If the courses do not meet their degree requirements or if they have already taken the available Flex-Start courses, they will have to work with their Faculty Advisor to identify an alternative solution (including taking courses in other departments that would satisfy the requirements). Combined 5-Year program students requesting an exception will be required to submit a completed Continuing On-Campus Graduate Student Fall Exception form with their agreed-upon plan of action that will be signed by the student’s graduate professional advisor, faculty advisor and department chair.

If there are no applicable classes being offered online, the Combined 5-Year program student will need to request to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) or plan to take classes in person for the fall semester. All Combined 5-Year program students will be required to take in-person classes for the Spring 2022 semester, even if they are approved to take online classes for the Fall 2021 semester.
